Integration of unstructured data for analytical processing of decision support

The technologies involved in a Business Intelligence environment let us collect and refine data from various sources, analyze and present useful information on a specific field from various perspectives so that managers can make better decisions. One of the obstacles to help understand what happens in an organization is the unstructured nature of multimedia data. Some systems require decision support solutions for the integration and analysis of unstructured data in environments of Data Warehousing. This project focuses around the question: how can we explore the content of unstructured data to complement the knowledge generated in the analysis of structured data, or even to be the target of analysis? For example, it would be helpful for a manager or specialist in agro-environmental planning using decision support applications that analyze satellite images of fields of sugar cane plantation in relation to soil properties and relief and temperatures? Using, in dependence of the manager of different image descriptors? The goal of this project is to propose a flexible architecture for analytical processing of structured and unstructured data in a unified manner, allowing to take advantage of the different interpretations and properties of unstructured data, coupled with the properties that can be stored in structured data. This project is divided into two phases. The first stage aims to build a multidimensional data model, the analytical processing and structured and unstructured data visualization and access, considering current researches. The second phase is the validation of the proposals concerning aspects such as performance and easy-to-use interfaces.
